[View Photos, etc.] Jazz For Brains Band History [Click here for Upcoming Gigs/Booking Information] The brainchild of Richard Kidd and Allan Cannon, Jazz For Brains was first conceived in 1992(?), originally featuring Richard on piano and trombone, Al on double bass, Sandy Freeze on guitar, Rakesh Tewari on drums and percussion, and Bob Nesbit on trumpet and tenor sax. The name of the band seemed an appropriate tribute to the origin of the word 'Jazz' in the gutters of Afro-American slang. Greg Marks was later invited to round out the lineup playing soprano, alto, and tenor sax. Featuring a mix of standards and original material, JFB has performed in 'Festival By The Sea' for the past three years, and in the Saint John Jazz & Blues Festival since its beginnings. In the future, expect to see a Jazz For Brains CD in a store near you...
